Off-Road News and Events in the Rocky Mountain Region

Inyan Kara Enduro (June 22, 2008) - Despite the fact that the Inyan Kara Enduro is one of the premier events on the RMEC schedule and is highly anticipated each year, there is also a certain amount of trepidation to go along with it. Because, in spite the primo trail, this event is characterized by hot temperatures and a brutal 21 mile long final special test that separates the men from the boys, the fit from the un-fit and sometimes the rider from the bike. This year we all got a break though. The enduro godsmust have been smiling down on us as they rolled back the temperatures to just the mid 80’s this year...Story

Blythe at Sydney Enduro Sydney Enduro - (June 8, 2008) Bernie Frederick and his YZF450 squeaked out a close overall victory at Round 5 of the RMEC Championship series held in Sydney Nebraska, just 15 seconds separating him from the Vickery Motorsports, Topar Racing, Durelle Suspension and offroadchampions.com backed YZ250F of Ian Blythe. Blythe for the second event in a row suffered from bike problems, this time running out of gas in one of the tests. Fortunately for him it occurred nearly in front of his pit, so he was able to get going quickly, but with a mere 15 second difference between himself and Frederick, it surely cost him the overall today. Tyler Pennington Wins the Overall C ClassCucharras Enduro - (May 18, 2008) - Rocks and water were the keywords today as the Front Range Trail Riders M/C hosted round four of the RMEC Championship series in Walsenburg Co. Most riders knew to expect the rocks this time around, as many were here for the Two-Day ISDE Qualifier held in 2006. What was unexpected was the high river level, apparently resulting from a release up-stream related to heavy spring run off. The nearly seat-deep crossing....three of them, left a number of riders drowned and kicking to start off their special tests. Rocks and water were the keywords today as the Front Range Trail Riders M/C hosted round four of the RMEC Championship series in Walsenburg Co. . Story

Pine Ridge EnduroPine Ridge Enduro (April 27, 2008) - Ho-hum, just another typical day at the Pine Ridge Enduro in Chadron Nebraska, you know what I mean if you’ve ever been there. It’s just another day of perfect trail conditions; tight, loamy singletrack through the woods, greasy, clay based river bottoms, fast grassy sections, no dust and near perfect organization and execution of the event. Yea, just another primo day at Pine Ridge, like every year! Perfect conditions don’t make for perfect racing though. In enduro racing there is no such thing as perfection, just the on going quest for it, and on this day the closest to perfect was AA freshman Brian Fortman, who nabbed his first career overall victory.
