Rampart Range Poker Run
Each spring and fall, the Rampart Range Motorcycle Management Committee (RRMMC) convenes on the Front Range trail system known as the Rampart Range Motorized Recreation Area to promote their bi-annual Poker Run. A non-competitive trail ride, the event is designed to raise funds that are used to maintain and enhance the trail system for all users. Located in the Pike-San Isabel forest, roughly mid-way between Colorado Springs and Denver, the area offers over 100 miles of trail ranging in elevation from 6500’ to 8500’ for both motorcycles and ATV’s.
With 26 years of experience behind them, the RRMMC provide a well organized, high quality event designed to suit both novice and experienced riders alike. Participants have their choice of courses, a 20 mile route suitable for novices or a longer 50 miler for the more experienced riders. And, as the name implies, a poker hand is dealt along the way at designated checkpoints manned by volunteers and club members. Through the generous donations from the following shops, Fay Myers Motorcycle World, Vickery Motorsports, Excel Motorsports South, Performance Cycle of Colorado, Extreme Performance Center, Sun Enterprises, Colorado Powersports, RPM Motorsports, Grand Prix Motorsports and The Spucewood Inn, the five best hands from each course will receive gift certificates ranging in value from $75 to $250.
Concluding the day, all participants are treated to a Hot Dog lunch and a raffle for the many additional prizes donated by Aurora Honda and Cycles of Boulder.
Help support your trail system and mark your calendar. The 2006 versions of this great event are scheduled for June 4th and September 17th. For more information, please visit the RRMMC web site at www.rampartrange.org.
